The following is a selection of excerpts from testimonials received from people representing 20 years of alumni, faculty and community members. They do not necessarily reflect the opinion of Opening BB&N Minds.
Until October 20, 2008, this site had many testimonials urging the school to provide a substantial response to the situation. In light of the school's response earlier this month, turning the focus to bringing justice to Ted Washburn is more pressing. You can view the complete list of Testimonials under the Index by Class or Index by Name.
For the anonymous quotes, I have taken steps to verify the identity of the person making the submission.

May 26, 2008"The academic rigor he brought to creative and expository writing, combined with his anti-establishment attitude (which I now know was merely a ploy to win over his young male students), made for an extremely enticing classroom environment for an adolescent boy. "

"I only experienced Ted Washburn as a study period monitor, and that was bad enough. He was rude, crude and used intimidation regularly."

April 16, 2008"I applaud you for making everyone face the horrible truth that lies beneath. I am sure your struggle and those of other victims has been unbearable at times. I have always felt that part of the reason that this was brushed under the rug was because of the Washburn family wealth and clout in the Boston area."
Anonymous, Class of 1988
April 12, 2008"What does the Massachusetts law tell me in 2008? Massachusetts tells me the statute of limitation is three years. The law tells me that I waited too long. Let me be clear. I was not waiting."

BB&N PARENTS, Friends & COMMUNITY
"Your website holds compassion for those who might come forward. Your site is a model for those who might want to perform a similar service for their community, as sadly, there will surely be more sexual predation. I hope you reach many men."Sarah W.

"This is a brave, thoughtful, honorable and respectful website. You have here created a place where networking and healing may begin for so many who have felt silenced both by the school and by society at large. My very best wishes to all of you."
A former BB&N parent
