"Dear Daniel:

a note to tell you publicly what I have said to you in person. It makes me so sad to read the endless testimonials from those who had such disturbing and inappropriate personal or indirect experiences with Ted Washburn – experiences that for many haven’t ever dissipated and never will. I find it all especially distressing given 13 years at BB&N and my love for the school. Several of my classmates and I have been trying to figure out how it’s possible that we didn’t react differently to what was going on around us. (I know many people remember Washburn’s bra-snapping and annual Land of Lakes Award - amazing to think of those as minor incidents considering the others.)

Yet, despite this sadness I am happy and encouraged to see so clearly that with this site you are making a positive difference to so many current and former BB&N students, parents, staff, and others. You, the other thoughtful people who have posted, and the many thoughtful people who won’t post, are making a lasting positive contribution to the struggle that so many people faced and face because of Washburn and the too many others like him.

Some good has come of this already and more is to come.
